Some Stories Behind The Music Remain

1959 marked a defining moment in rock history as one plane crash took three young stars lives.
Fifty eight years ago today, Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and The Big Bopper were killed in a single engine plane crash at Clear Lake, Iowa.
Many movies were made over the years portraying these young legends as were songs.
The picture of the lobby on The Eagles "Hotel California" was said to be the place the three musicians had played.
The rock group out of Great Britain "The Hollies" named themselves after Buddy Holly.
And of course, Don McClain s "American Pie" was written by the singer from history experience being a paperboy at the time of the crash.
I have to admit, " American Pie" wasn't my favorite song growing up because the song seemed to go on forever.  How fitting that statement is now that I'm older and understand what significance it has in rock and roll history.
It is history what these three men inspired long after, as it should be. This day, February 3.
Every Saturday night ,the Am Radio Station "WBNS" out of Columbus, Ohio would host a program "Rock N Roll Saturday Night" playing all the hits of the 1950s I'd listen to faithfully during the latter 1970's
