My Favorite Christmas Movies/Shows Of All Time!

To All Those Runners Out There!

For All the time and effort, for all the love you put into it, this is for you!  My brother ran in track in his Junior High and High School days and still talks about it how much he loved it.  This song was one of his favorites!

Fifty Years Ago And Still We Are Wondering Why?

Image
So many events are being marked this time of year.  The Gettysburg Address marked a pivotal time in our nation's history a hundred fifty years ago.  I admire Abraham Lincoln because he fought against such adversities and prejudices. The 1960's were filled with the same in a sense.  I can't believe it has been fifty years since that tragic day in Dallas, Texas when yet another president was taken by an assassin's bullet.    Many people knew what they were doing and where they were when Abraham Lincoln was shot; the same is true with John F. Kennedy. I wasn't born yet when John F Kennedy was shot and yet like many, it touches my life as an american, just as the death of Abraham Lincoln til this day. Both men had made such an impact and yet I wonder what they would have done if they would had lived. Always remember the good we accomplish and the legacy we may leave behind.

Favorite Christmas Songs

I promised myself I wouldn't start playing Christmas Music early but between work and waiting my turn on the computer, I thought I would get started on my favorite Christmas Music and share it with everyone.  Thanksgiving is next week and this month seems to be going quickly.  I do want to wish everyone love peace and joy as we start this Holiday Season.  We sure can use those so much anymore.  Time gets away from us and stress dominates our lives a lot of the time.  Happy Thanksgiving to all and be careful out and about, remember there's only one "You" in the world! This one is for my dad, he likes 'Norman Rockwell" but his all time favorite Artist is "Currier and Ives" I love these videos because of Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole and Josh Groban and the Beautiful Winter Prints that make the perfect match for Christmas season! One of the first albums I can remember my playing on the turntable was Elvis Presley "Blue Christmas"

Songs For Special People

Image
Music helps celebrate every occasion.  With me, I can remember an event, season and year by certain songs because it happened at the same time.  A person can turn back the hands just a little and re-live a moment that was special, happy or sad. Music can be a powerful thing! The list I made has some strong hints that are thought provoking for me. Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely" reminds me of the cold winter days of my elementary school days when I had to have speech therapy with three other children. Masterpiece by Sandi Patti always brings tears to my eyes especially the end when she reads scripture.  Back when my family tried our best to take my grandfather's 16mm film and make it into video.  The sound of the old projector was drowned out by our choice of our favorite songs.  We used this song on the tape and it played against pictures of all us kids when we were little. The summer of 1973, my grandma was still alive but paralyzed and c

A Little More Romance.

If I think back on all the songs I really like over the years, romantic songs would out weigh all the rest.  Nothing beats a good song that is uplifting.  Love is an emotion that can do that.  The really good "Love" songs that aren't dirty or gross.  How about the nice ones, in simplest terms, the purest form of expressing oneself through music.  I have to admit that sweetheart, darling and honey sounds much better than "Mama" or some other slang terms which I won't mention.  I hope you enjoy some of these "Good Ole" love songs

Need A Smile?

Got thinking about this today and how much I enjoy watching some music videos because they are cute or funny.  I do that when I am feeling sad, lonely or just need a chuckle. If you are passing through and feeling blue, I hope this picks you up!

Still More Favorites

Image
My kids are subjected to my favorite music while riding in my car.  I can think of only one station that is my daughters.  It is kinda ironic because it was my favorite station when I was a girl only they play all new music for her generation.  I love the "Old" stuff or "Dinosaur Music" I like to call it.  "Oldies" to me back when I was young stemmed from the 50's or 60's, now "Old" is 70's , 80's. and 90's. oh well.  As Billy Joel said in one of his songs and I quote "It's Still Rock N Roll To Me!"

The Perfect Accent For The Room (In This Heart)

Image
I think every girl has a "Dream Guy" that they hope to meet and marry someday, at least that is what we tell ourselves.  I couldn't have been more than nine, when I started putting together that "Dream Man".  It seemed like that not only did he have dark hair but an accent.  Just what "Accent" I could never figure out but I have somewhat of an ideal. I loved music as long as I could remember and listened to the radio so much that I worn out many transistors my grandpa kept giving me, you know the small hand held radios, of course back in the seventies they were large enough to house a 9 Volt battery, not the button ones they have today.  My grandma suffered a stroke so my mom went over to my grandparents house to help care for her.  During we were off from school, we usually joined her.  My grandfather loved electronics, he had all shapes and sizes of radios, every station you could imagine, so this was just a perfect place for a kid who loved music a

The Sweetest Times

Pretty melodies come in a lot forms of music.  For me, its the slow soft sound of classical, soft rock and my mom and dad's favorite, country.   I love the old turntable and when I was younger I would play the phonograph almost constantly until I worn out my mother's stereo.  As I grew older I acquired my own stereo.  I guess I was in my late teens when I would get up on Saturday mornings to clean my room and put on a record.  Some were old Hymns, I could hear her in the kitchen singing with them.  I loved it whenever my parents would know the songs I played and sing with them.  Making them happy made me happy. Most of the time, my mom would love to hear waltzes by her favorite singer Ann Murray or "Tennessee Waltz" by Patty Page.  I never saw my parents "Slow Dance" but I am sure they did.  I am blessed to have loving parents who showed me how to love and care for others, but most of all showed how beautiful the love between them truly is meant to be. Babe Styx Lyrics

Dedication, Going on Seven Years

This is my favorite time of year where the temperatures are just right and all the colors are beautiful. Along with all that autumn joy, for me it is sad as well.    My late husband had his surgery to remove cancer in August of 2006 and started his chemotherapy shortly after that.  It was an aggressive treatment as it was an aggressive cancer that I later realized invaded his lungs.  By October his health started slowly to deteriorate.   His last treat o treat with our children, my son was a ninja warrior and my daughter "Hello Kitty."   On December 13th 2006 ,he lost his life, I remember the trip to the hospital six days prior.  We had a 1996 Ford Windstar Van.  I drove that day, first we dropped the children off at school and headed to Sandusky, Ohio to The Firelands Hospital.    We were quiet on the trip up with only the radio for noise. At that time, I didn't know how close to death he was.  He always hid things from me to keep me from getting upset, although I alwa

Journey - Why Can't This Night Go On Forever

My mother's father was the only grandfather I had ever known all my life.  You could imagine how close we were.  Everyday I seen him working around his house just across from our house.  I had lost my grandmother in 1976, til this day whenever I hear "Sarah Smile" by Hall & Oats I can remember my grandfather telling her "Sarah Smile" and the memory of her passing haunting in the music as it plays. I was working at Northland Mall's Crown Hallmark in Columbus.  It was a Sunny Sunday day and it had been slow at work. I went home on 71 north then on 36/37.   I had just gone to bed when my sister in tears woke me up to tell me that grandpa died.   It was June 28th 1987.  On the radio Journey's "Why Can't This Night Go On Forever" was playing.  It was heart-wrenching to listen to it then as the words just fit the pain we were all going through.  Now its a bitter-sweet memory, I can smile thinking about my grandfather when I hear it.  I ho

Thinking Of Others

Image
Every year I think of friends and family whose birthday come my way.  At times life side tracks and the older I get the more forgetful I become. I don't like that, unfortunately not much I can do about it. None the less I want to think of others that I care about who possess a  place in my heart.  At this time of, particularly, October, I have a few I like to send a special birthday belated greeting too, one who is going through a difficult time.  You are not forgotten, Love and Prayers Always!
