My Ten Movie Picks For Valentine's Day.
I thought it would be fun to count down some of my favorite love inspired films of all time. Seems like so many movies for me in this day and age lack a certain innocence and wonder about love, romance, self sacrifice and devotion. So I will stick to the ones I enjoy. Being a veteran the last nine years of being alone with just my kids and I, I have become a connoisseur, so to speak on movies. So I wanted to share the ones I like with you,Stephen because you mean so much to me. Might be fun for your family too. So here we go:
10,
Romeo And Juliet
Although I wasn't a big fan of the play by William Shakespeare, the movie made in 1968, is one of the best done, We saw this on a field trip in school, I had always remembered as an excellent film, very artistically dramatised.

Ghost
I really liked Patrick Swayze in this film and I wasn't much a fan of his films. Its a well written movie. Demi Moore never thrilled me along with Whoopie Goldberg and if Patrick Swayze wasn't in it, I don't think I would have liked it at all, his performance was great, he too died way too young. Patrick Swayze was in an episode of M.A.S.H ,he played a leukemia patient, strange how that eerily foretold his last days really battling cancer.
8.
Love Story 1970
I only remember bits and pieces of this film but I included it because of the story line. How it fits too. A woman from Midwest and a man from the East Coast fall in love..Couldn't have written that better huh?
7.
Two-Way Tie
An Affair To Remember 1957
Can't leave this out for Valentines day as it is a perfect film to watch, has got to be the most romantic film ever. I always liked Cary Grant , his chemistry with Debra Carr is wonderful. I tied it with "Where The Red Fern Grows" where as An Affair To Remember has Romance and intrigue, "Where the red fern grows" is a film based of a story surrounding an old Indian legend of undying love and sacrifice, the kindred spirit. its a very sad film but it illustrates a profound meaning.
6.
Phantom Of The Opera
I had to include this one because the whole play is so wonderfully written by Andrew Lloyd Weber about the two sides of love, good or bad. Who loves the most and what true love means ,clearly no matter who we are, love conquers all. The movie is so much like the play , personally Raul is such a drip, the phantom is much more exciting and cooler.
5. Goes To Plain Puppy Love,
Benji
This movie had an all star cast, my dad took us to see this film when it cam out in 1974. This will always be one of the best films for its heartwarming tale of love not only between two furry friends but the love between human and man's best friend. I love this movie. Joe Camp always had a way to make you cry and make you smile all in one movie. I picked this one for the sheer "Puppy Love"
4.
Love Actually
Aspects Of Love, shown through ten different stories, I never knew there were so many,Its a really well done film. It is a difficult theme to tackle along with breaking it down into ten different stories for a writer. Even though its based around the setting of Christmas "Love Actually" is good for all seasons. Where would love be without Valentine's day
3.
To Dance With The White Dog
Two of my favorite actors in this film I love so well. Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy. This is everlasting love no matter what your age. It portrays an older couple so much in love, that their age is timeless!
2 Another Tie
What can you say about these two classic films only that, everyone loves when the GOOD unexpected happens, especially when you find love without knowing it
Ok, NUMBER ONE for me and I know my family would agree this is one of my all-time beloved films, I have seen over a dozen times!
Can't deny this 1939 film, my brother-in-law claimed it was over acted, but for all its acclaim, a great movie is great movie...I don't care what he thinks..lol. I can remember when the tv network would break it down into a mini series, my family would always watch it, to us it was a treat, my dad well, not so much. After I started working at Big Bear, I bought a collectors edition on VHS, that cost me about hundred dollars...boy was that a mistake, you can buy it now on Blue-Ray or a lot less.
I started to collect Porcelain dolls made by Franklin Mint of the actors and actresses
Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh confrontations and Chemistry were great. I believe if the film was made today it would never match up to the magic of production and the sophistication of the film back then. You didn't have to see a love scene to capture the moment, well written movies don't and didn't need to. A very subtle hint is all you need and it was all "Gone With The Wind" needed then.
It will always be a Classic Love Story, hands down,
I don't know if you agree with my picks, never the less, hope you enjoyed them, love you so my Schizz, love and prayers to you family too!
